First entry in Portia Geach Portrait Prize…

Another milestone achieved, my first entry in the Portia Geach Portrait Prize. In 2012 I have been focussing on some of the major art prizes, entering first the Sulman Art Prize, more recently The 61st Blake Prize and now the 2012 Portia Geach Portrait Prize.

“Self Portrait: In the moment” is capturing that moment when all the setting up has been done, problem-solving out of the way, paints are mixed and I am ready to get on with the bit that I love the most, putting paint brush to board and painting.  Will see how I go with my first entry…

My first entry in the Blake Art Prize 2012…

My first entry in the Blake Art Prize and I am so grateful to have been able to include this portrait of Naomi and her beautiful boy, Gabriel.  I have titled the painting “In the detail…” as for me that is where I find the creative spirit.   Will now await the announcement of selections, however to have entered and to have had the privilege to paint this painting is significant to me in my journey as an artist, in particular as a portrait artist.

Congratulations Kathrin!

Although my first entry to the 2012 Sulman art prize was not selected, of the 650+ entries that were made I was delighted to hear that my web designer, Kathrin Longhurst’s painting is to be hung.  Well done Kathrin!  Great to hear and inspire others to keep going.
